Government Medical College (GMC), Amritsar is one of the oldest and most prestigious government medical colleges in North India. The institution traces its origins to the Lahore Medical School (1864), which was relocated to Amritsar in 1920. It was upgraded to a medical college in 1943 and has since produced thousands of distinguished doctors, researchers, and medical educators.
