GMC, Surat

Government Medical College, Surat, established in 1964, was founded with the aim of providing quality medical education and delivering advanced tertiary healthcare services to the people of South Gujarat and nearby regions. The college is affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University.

Spread across a vast 130-acre campus, the institution includes the main academic buildings, New Civil Hospital, student hostels, and residential quarters for staff. Currently, the college admits around 250 students annually to its MBBS program. In addition, it offers 177 seats in postgraduate degree and diploma courses across a wide range of medical specialties.

The college is supported by more than 250 faculty members and comprises 23 departments, all of which provide postgraduate training. It also has a dedicated Medical Education Unit and an Institutional Review Board (IRB), along with a Scientific Review Committee and Ethics Committee, which actively promote high-quality medical research.
